19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult period, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
